Water is like a fuel to our brain and body. it helps them both to keep functioning properly.  Our body is made up of 60% of water. Thus it is important for us. Not only water but even food items that are rich with water content helps us to keep hydrated. These fruits and vegetables includes cucumbers, watermelon, bell pepper and tomatoes. But these are not used by people now a days as they prefer fast food. People now a days do not drink enough water. They prefer drinking frizzy drinks, juices and soft drinks. These drinks lowers the hydration levels in our body. when our body does not get sufficient amount of water, it can cause dehydration. Dehydration can cause headaches, fatigue and heatstroke. Thus water intake is important for us.

Not drinking enough water can cause many health problems. These problems are as follow

  • Headaches

Low or no water intake can cause headache. Do not take excessive medications for headaches. Just drink some water and rest. You’ll feel your headache going away.

  • Laziness

You’ll feel your energy getting low when  you don’t drink enough water. Water helps our brain to function properly. When our brain doesn’t get the ample amount of water, it is unable to focus on work. Thus many people during work feel tired at some time. when they drink water, they feel fresh again.

  • Mood Disturbances

You can become cranky and irritated due to dehydration. Research studies shows that low water intake can cause dizziness, fatigue and irritability.

  • Mental Fog

You might feel like spacing out while working. You just want to lay your head and sleep. This mental drowsiness can be the symptom of dehydration. Water keeps our brain intact. It helps us to remain focused.

  • Ineffective Workouts

You might not be losing weight even working out properly. This can be due to dehydration. It makes fat to burn slowly. Thus it is important to keep hydrated. Drink water before, during and after the workout will make a workout effective.

  • Weight Gain

If you do not drink enough water, it can cause weight gain. Because you must be drinking soft drinks instead of water. It makes you gain weight. weight gain can lead to diseases such as diabetes, heart stroke and many other diseases. Drinking water helps you to lose weight fast. It also gives you a sense of being “full”. Drinking enough water don’t let you feel much hungry between your meals.

Water helps you to prevent heart stroke. It also helps your heart to recover at fast rate if you had a stroke previously. Drink water enough to keep your heart working properly.

You must have heard that use this to keep your skin hydrated. It means that your skin needs to be hydrated. When you don’t drink enough water, your skin becomes dry. Dry skin makes it easier for germs and collagen to attack. It can cause wrinkles and fine lines. This is why moisturizers are available to keep our skin hydrated. But it is only external. You need sufficient amount of water to keep your skin hydrated internally.

  • Slowing Down Metabolism

Metabolism needs water like all other functions in the body. Metabolism slow down when you don’t drink enough water. It can lead to loss of energy and even weight gain.

Water takes bacteria and toxins out of our body. it helps our immune system to keep our body safe. Keep your body free of toxins by drinking enough water. It will keep you safe.

  • Sugar Cravings

You know why you often feel sugar cravings most of the time? it is because you are dehydrated. Dehydration triggers sugar cravings. It stops body to get energy from glucose stores. You need to drink water when you feel like you want a cake, donuts, cookies etc.

Prevention of Dehydration

It is important to keep a bottle with you so you can stay hydrated wherever you go. How much water your body needs depends on your weight, age and environment. But experts suggest that every person should drink at least eight glasses of water daily. So you don’t have to wait or find water. Water keeps you concentrated on things you want to do. Be it an office work, a sport or just a walk. It keeps you focused. Never go to gym without water because when you sweat, your body release moisture. Thus you feel your energy lowering down. drink some water and you feel energetic again.

Water is necessary for every living thing. So keep a bowl of water in your backyard to keep the animals around hydrated too!
