Queen Elizabeth II Passes Away At 96

After serving her country for 70 years, The Queen of England Dies At 96. Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has peacefully passed away today at Balmoral. Buckingham Palace issues a statement confirming her death. Earlier today it was reported that she is resting comfortably at Balmoral.

“The King and Queen consort will remain at Balmoral and will return to London tomorrow,” said Buckingham Palace.

The week prior to this she formed the Govt in her name with the newly appointed Prime Minister Liz Truss. After that, she was unable to fulfill one of her appointments due to her health issues. Therefore, her family rushed to her after the doctors showed deep concerns about Queen’s health. She was suffering from episodic mobility problems, as the palace called it, since the end of the last year. She had limited her public engagements and canceled many appointments because of it.

The longest reigning Monarch

Elizabeth II (Elizabeth Alexandra Mary) is the longest reigning monarch in the history of the United Kingdom and the other 14 sovereign countries including Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. She has devoted her whole life to the service of the Crown and has completed 7 decades of her life ruling the British throne.

She took the oath at her coronation at the age of 25 at Westminster Abbey as the head of the State. It was the first digital coronation which was aired on television also. She successfully carried the legacy of her father, King George VI. Her first Prime Minister was Winston Churchill. Fifteen Prime Ministers served her during her ruling time. She came to be regarded as the representation of post-war Britain and a bridge uniting the present with the past. She lost her husband, Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh last year on 17 April 2021 aged 99. He is the longest consort to the Queen to ever lived in British history.

Prince Charles, Heir to the British throne

Charles will be sworn in as the new monarch by the Accession Council the morning following the passing of Queen Elizabeth. The dawn of a new monarchy will rise with King Charles the third. Prince Charles of Wales becomes King at the age of 73. The new title of Prince and Princess of Wales will be bestowed to Prince William and Duchess of Cambridge by the new King, HM King Charles.

The new King, King Charles III has passed the statement on her mother’s demise: “We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished Sovereign and a much loved mother. I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the realm, the commonwealth, and by the countless people around the world.”

Flags at the Landmark buildings across Britain and Commonwealth will be lowered. Her well-wishers have gathered around the gates of Buckingham Palace, Windsor, and Balmoral Castle mourning and crying at the loss of their beloved Queen. Since the death of Princess Diana, the funeral of Queen Elizabeth will be iconic. 10 days will be observed in the official mourning.

Pakistan expresses its condolences

Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi expressed his genuine condolences to the Royal Family on the passing of the Queen. He offered his prayers to the departed soul and his thoughts for the British people at the time of sorrow.

He also added she attained the status of a great and benevolent ruler who would be remembered vividly in the chapters of world history. Thanks to her inspiring leadership abilities and as the longest reigning ruler.
